South Downs National Park - The park is characterised by a variety of landscapes, including rolling chalk hills, woodlands, grasslands, valleys, and a stunning coastline along the English Channel.

Harting Down - Just down the road from us is Harting Down (National Trust) with spectacular and far reaching views over South Harting and the surrounding area. Harting Down is great for walking with or without dogs and is also popular with cyclists and hang gliders as it offers an excellent starting point with good winds and thermals. NT Car Park.

The South Downs Way - a 160-kilometer trail that winds its way through some of the South Downs National Park's most spectacular scenery. It crosses Harting Down and offers a host of activities  from walking, to cycling and horse riding. 

The Goodwood Estate - is just a short drive away where they host the World renowned motoring events of the Festival of Speed and Goodwood Revival along with various horse racing events including the prestigious  Glorious Goodwood Festival. Visitors to Goodwood Estate can also participate in high-octane track days and other exciting driving experiences, among other sporting adventures. There are two distinctive 18-hole courses and a new short game course at Goodwood, set in stunning surroundings.

Chichester Harbour - is celebrated for its breathtaking natural beauty, featuring a unique blend of tidal mudflats, salt marshes, sandbanks, and gently sloping beaches. Chichester Harbour is renowned as a sailing and boating paradise. Its sheltered waters and gentle tides make it an ideal location for various water-based activities, including sailing, kayaking, paddleboarding and fishing. There are numerous picturesque villages surrounding Chichester Harbour including Itchenor, Bosham Hoe and Dell Quay.

West Wittering Beach - is a firm favourite of ours and one of the loveliest beaches in the UK and Chichester Harbour with its stunning sand dunes and colourful beach huts. Dog friendly. Pre-booking for West Wittering Beach car park is recommended at any time of the year.

Bracklesham Bay, East Wittering & East Beach, Selsey - great alternatives to West Wittering Beach. At low or mid tide there is sand but are pebble at high tide.  Both are dog friendly and popular with locals and surfers alikeJulie's Crab at East Beach, Selsey sells freshly picked Selsey crab along with other locally caught fish on small boats. 

Pallant House Gallery -. Pallant House Gallery boasts an impressive collection of British art from the 20th and 21st centuries along with regularly changing exhibitions.

Chichester Festival Theatre - hosts a diverse range of productions, including classic plays, contemporary dramas, musicals, and experimental performances. It is particularly well-regarded for its Shakespearean productions. The theatre operates on a seasonal basis, with a Summer Festival Season being the highlight of its calendar.

Arundel Castle & Gardens - nearly 1,000 years of history at this great castle, situated in magnificent grounds overlooking the River Arunn and built at the end of the 11th century by Roger de Montgomery, Earl of Arundel. There are various events throughout the year, but our favourite time to go is during the Tulip Festival in April which you will need to book in advance.

Uppark House and Gardens - a fine late 17th century National Trust house. Anyone who loves a good period drama will be interested in seeing the contrast in life upstairs and downstairs at Uppark, with a maze of small servants’ quarters below stairs, and the large, grand rooms for the nobility on the ground floor. 

Petworth House & Park - Petworth House is a Grade I Listed mansion, is the centrepiece of this remarkable estate. Built in the late 17th century, with later additions in the 18th and 19th centuries, it epitomizes the grandeur of English country estates.

Beyond the grandeur of the house lies Petworth Park, a sprawling landscape designed by the celebrated landscape architect Capability Brown. Covering over 700 acres of rolling hills, ancient woodlands, and tranquil lakes with Fallow Deer roaming the park offers visitors a serene retreat into nature’s embrace.

Pagham Harbour RSPB Local Nature Reserve - is a glorious and peaceful nature reserve. Watch Black-tailed Godwits and Little Egrets by day, then linger when skies are clear for an amazing sunset.

West Dean Estate Gardens & College - Spread over 90 acres, this splendid garden is part of the larger West Dean Estate, which boasts a rich history dating back centuries. West Dean Gardens is one of the greatest restored gardens open to the public today. Visitors can explore a wide range of historic features on a gentle walk around the grounds, from surreal trees to the restored walled garden. The Walled Kitchen Garden and Edwardian Pergola are particularly fine.

West Dean College offers degrees and diplomas and short course at their School of Conservation and School of Arts.

The Weald & Downland Living Museum - is just up the road from West Dean Gardens & College and is home to over 50 rescued historic and working buildings, travelling through 1,000 years of rural life, where you can learn the human and material stories that each has to tell.

BBC's Repair Shop (at The Weald & Downland Living Museum) - The Museum’s Court Barn from Lee-on-the-Solent is home to the BBC’s The Repair Shop series and is open for viewing on certain days when the BBC are not filming. 

Cowdray Estate - Cowdray offers a range of premium country pursuits from golf on a Championship course, an award winning clay-pigeon shooting school, fly fishing on the river Rother, walking, cycling, riding, polo, both spectating and learning to play, to hospitality at the Farm Shop & Café. 

Sky Park Farm, West Harting - is a working deer farm, pioneering responsible production of venison. Visitors can see herds of deer and have the chance to feed them. They have a very good  farm shop and restaurant.
