4. Cancellation by Us
The Old Farmhouse Shepherd's Hut reserves the right to cancel a holiday booking at short notice if we are unable to provide a safe environment, due to extreme weather conditions, ill health, fire, flooding or any other extenuating circumstances within or beyond our control. Under such circumstances, your full payment will be returned to you. The Old Farmhouse Shepherd's Hut cannot accept liability or responsibility for any loss, including consequential loss, caused by cancellation. The Greener Camping Club membership fee is not refundable.
5. Children & Risks
There are many opportunities for walking in and around North Marden in the fields and woodland footpaths but these may have tripping hazards such as badger or foxholes in them. These risks are small and should be self-evident - but if you are not clear, please ask! The Old Farmhouse Shepherd's Hut accepts no responsibility for any injury incurred on site. Parents are responsible for the supervision of their children on site at all times.
6. Cars
There is a parking space for one car which is clearly marked and should be used at all times. Please take care when reversing or turning your car around as there is limited space in which to do this. The Old Farmhouse Shepherd's Hut accepts no responsibility for any damage or injury incurred on site that is caused by your car.
7. Arrival & Departure Time
Arrival time is from 3pm to 10pm.
On departure day, please vacate the Shepherd’s Hut by 11am.
8. Recycling & Rubbish
Please recycle your rubbish. That means separating glass, cans, plastic, paper, cardboard etc. and placing them in the special recycling bins provided. What is left, ie. only items that are not recyclable, can be placed in the general waste bin provided.
9. Fire Pit & BBQ
Please do not leave your Fire Pit or BBQ unattended and think carefully about whether or not to light a fire if it is windy.
10. Consideration for our Neighbours
This is a peaceful, quiet site for the enjoyment of nature. We do not allow car radios, Bluetooth speakers or any other amplified music.. Acoustic instruments, such as guitars, harmonicas, flutes etc can be played before 10.30pm. Noisy visitors who persistently disturb our neighbours will be asked politely to leave, without refund (this has never needed to happen).
11. Dogs
As dog lovers, we welcome quiet, well behaved dogs but by special arrangement only. We have a Black Labrador who may bark at you when you arrive or leave but she is a lovely and only guarding her own territory.
If we have agreed to accept your dog, these are the dog rules:
- Your dog is as clean and dry as possible before being allowed into the Shepherd’s Hut.
- Your dog is not allowed on the bed, bedding or soft furnishings at any time.
- Your dog must be under full control at all times and must not run free around the site.
- Dog poo must be bagged and binned.
- Dogs must not be left unattended in the Shepherd's Hut or on the site at any time.
Thank you for your co-operation.
12. Smoking
For safety and consideration for other guests, The Old Farmhouse Shepherd's Hut is strictly NON SMOKING. If you smoke, please ensure you do it outside, no matter what the weather, and dispose of your cigarette ends in the Fire Pit.
13. The Weather
In common with any area of the Country the site can be subjected to extreme weather conditions. Very strong winds and torrential rain can occur at any time of year, though we are fortunate in that we do not flood as we are on high ground on chalk. For an up to date local forecast see the BCC Weather Forecast here.
14. Property Loss or Damage
The Old Farmhouse Shepherd's hut cannot be held responsible for any lost, damaged or stolen property. We have never had an incidence of theft or damage and we very much hope we never do.
15. Breakages & Damage
A £100 breakages & damage deposit will be taken at the time of booking. Please ensure you notify us before you leave in the event of any damage or breakages to the Shepherd's Hut or its Contents so that we can ensure that the item is repaired or replaced for our next guests. The refund of your breakages/damages deposit will be processed within 24 hours of your departure and you should expect the refund to appear on your original payment method within 5-7 working days if there is no damage reported or evident after your departure. Should any damage be evident or breakages occur, other than acceptable wear and tear, we reserve the right to charge for repairs or replacement from the deposit you have paid. We reserve the right to charge for excessive cleaning when the Shepherd’s Hut has been left in an unacceptable condition, through waste, litter, interference in the structure, movement of furniture and contents etc. which will be taken from the deposit you have paid. Guests will be held responsible for any fire, smoke or general damage, or alteration to the structure caused by negligence.
